Where to Stay in Ipoh

Please understand that Ipoh is a spread-out city and deciding where to stay is as important as what type of hotel you choose.

In very simple terms, most of Ipoh’s eateries, attractions, historic landmarks, and modern cafes are set on the western side of the city where Ipoh Old Town straddles both sides of the Kinta River.

Another city landmark is not far away to the east, the shopping mall Ipoh Parade, where you can find many of the city’s best eateries and where the core of Ipoh New Town starts.

The more you go east, the more housing areas you’ll find until you’ll bump into Tambun, and from there may proceed south to adventure capital Gopeng, or further east up the hills and into the Cameron Highlands.

If you don’t have your own wheels, it is recommended to stay around Ipoh Old Town or Ipoh Parade, from where you can get around on foot pretty much everywhere you need.
